Susan Kay (Kirkman) Noonkester

Mrs. Susan Kay Kirkman Noonkester, age 67 of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Ms. Noonkester was born on May 12, 1955, in Surry County to the late William “Blackie” and Dorothy Gentry Kirkman.  Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Haynes and husband Will, Kim Lakey and husband Tim; five grandchildren, Logan Haynes, Trae Haynes, Anna Lakey, Ben Lakey, Jaxon Lakey; one brother, Cecil Kirkman, her significant other, Dale Cockerham; and special cousins, Diane Norman and Kathy Chilton.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Noonkester was preceded in death by a brother, William Gary Kirkman.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Alton Bledsoe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Baptist Church.  In leu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
