Mr. Swanson Early Vass, 90, of 217 Kenmore Road, Hillsville, VA widower of Mrs. Wilma Mae Combs Vass passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born November 29, 1920 in Carroll County, VA to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lelia Allen Vass. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Earlene and Roland Richardson, Woodlawn, VA, Gladys Gaye and Charlie Sumner, Fancy Gap, VA; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Russell and Betty Vass, Mt. Airy, NC, Barney and Tammy Vass, Hillsville, VA, and Dennis Vass Hillsville, VA; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a brother, Elmo Vass, Woodlawn, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vass was preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Hall and a brother, Carlos Vass. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Oak Ridge Baptist Church conducted by Rev. David Sechrist and Rev. Allan Vass. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Earlene Richardson, 5127 Joy Ranch Road, Woodlawn, VA 24381. Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
