Sylvia Jean Crotts Danley

Mrs. Sylvia Jean Crotts Danley, 71, of Ararat, passed away Sunday night, January 2, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mrs. Danley was born September 5, 1950, in Carroll County, VA, one of nine children born to the late Jonah and Patty Rakes Crotts. Jean worked at Renfro Corporation for many years, and she later retired from Open Hands Caregiver Services. She was a devoted Christian and a member of New Beginning Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, the Rev. Frank Phillip Danley of the home; a daughter, Shelby Scales of Ararat; a son and daughter-in-law, Bro. Kevin and Amanda Danley of Ararat; her grandchildren, Raleigh and Maria Scales, Phillip Danley, Savannah and Jody Branch, Kendra and Austin Jenkins, Andrew Wall, Natalie Danley, and Madison and Jacob Freeman; six great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters-in-law, the Rev. Ted and Ann Crotts, Wanda Crotts, and June Crotts, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Danley was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Stevens, Ann Goins, Polly Tolbert, and Shirley Crotts (infant); and three brothers, Bobby Crotts, Alexander “Alex” Crotts, and Andrew Jackson “Jackie” Crotts. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Bro. Dean Bowman, the Rev. Ray Hutson, the Rev. Frank Danley, and Bro. Kevin Danley officiating. Burial will follow in the New Beginning Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
