Sylvia Rodney Jones

Miss. Sylvia Rodney Jones, 70, of Winston-Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2008, at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Miss Jones was born August 3, 1937, in Carroll County, VA,to the late Roy Rodney and Litha Ann Jones Jones. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and James Jessup of Winston-Salem, Mary Lee and Arlis Phillips of Cana, VA, and Gloria Jean and David Smythers of Jacksonville, FL; and a brother and sister-in-law, Green and Joyce Jones of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Miss Jones was preceded in death by three sisters, Georgia Jones Garcia, Irene Jones, and Clarsie Jones. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 21, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Jones, and burial will follow in the Jones-Fleming Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the chaplain at Forsyth Medical Center, the Rev. Clint Branch, Dr. Eugene Paschold, nurse Paula Norman, all nurses on the 9th floor at Forsyth Medical Center, and the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for love, care, and kindness shown to Sylvia during her illness.
