Mrs. Sylvia Bumgarner Sasser, age 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, at her residence. Mrs. Sasser was born April 24, 1940, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, to the late Roy and Betty Bumgarner. In her spare time, she could be found working her favorite puzzles, spending time with her family, and especially her grandbabies, which she thought dearly of, and watching butterflies. She will be deeply missed by the many blessed to have known her. Surviving Mrs. Sasser is her son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Patricia Stover of Cana, Virginia; her grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua and Summer Stover of Mount Airy, Jacob and Erin Melton of Kingsport, Tennessee, Gabriel Melton of Cana, Virginia, Titus Stover of Cana, Virginia; great grandchildren, Chloe Harp, Madison Harp, Raelynn Harp, and Forrest Stover; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Dave Cowder of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania; very special friend, Brittany Lyman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sasser was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Wayland Sasser; brother, John Bumgarner. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 6 until 8 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 11 am at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Corey Honeycutt officiating. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Sasser family.
