Tammy Renee Sawyers Newman

Ms. Tammy Renee Sawyers Newman, 46, of 920 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, went home to be with the Lord and her family who preceded her in death on Thursday morning, November 12, 2009, at her home. She was born September 5, 1963, in Surry County, to Barbara McMillian Sawyers Edmonds and the late James Henry Sawyers. She was a homemaker and a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Ms. Newman is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sheena and Dusty Slate of Mount Airy and Kaley Newman and her friend, Travis Childress, of the home; a grandson, Bryson Slate of Mount Airy; her parents, Barbara M. and Michael "Mike" Edmonds of Mount Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Christy Sawyers, Richard and Heather Sawyers, Jody and Hannah Edmonds, and Kevin and Brandi Edmonds, all of Mount Airy; her fiance and his son, Jeff Bearden and Nick Bearden of King; and special nieces and nephew, Lindsay, Jade, and J.D. Sawyers. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 16, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Kelly Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home.
