Ted Roosevelt Adkins

Mr. Ted Roosevelt Adkins, 68, of 208 Maple Hollow Road, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Adkins was born May 12, 1940, in Surry County, son of the late Joe and Inda Ward Adkins. He retired from Pike Electric Inc. and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Sutphin Adkins of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Craig Smith of Mount Airy, Sheila and Danny Watts of Hillsville, VA, and Audrey and Todd Tucker of Ararat; six grandchildren, Christopher Bunker of Mount Airy, Jonathan Butcher of Waynesville, Jennifer Whitmore of Virginia Beach, VA, Jessi Watts of Hillsville, VA, Haley Tucker and Tedi Sue Tucker, both of Ararat; a sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and Bill Lowe of Mount Airy; and a special friend, Carl King of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by a grandson, Landon Tucker; a sister, Carrie Alice Underwood; and a brother, Billy Dean Adkins. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 23, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Westside Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
