Terri Lynn Draughn Cockerham

Mrs. Terri Lynn Draughn Cockerham, age 68, of Dobson, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born June 24, 1955, in Surry County, to the late Kelly Ray Draughn and the late Vena Callie White Draughn. Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Ronnie Cockerham; her daughters and son-in-law, Meredith and Craig Kitson, and Maggie Cockerham (Cody Abernethy); grandchildren, Piper Kitson and Natalie Kitson; bonus grandchildren, Rayleigh and Reed Abernethy; her siblings, Vickie and Joe Norman, Joy and Felix Freeman, Lisha and Greg High, Lorri and Charles Finch, and Robert and Dana Draughn; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Jack Carico, and Phyllis Sutphin; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, “The Girls.”

           Terri was best known as "Mimi" and was an avid reader and quilter. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the choir as well as serving many roles within the church throughout her years.  She retired from Surry Community College where she served as Director of Occupational Extension and College and Career Readiness.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 12:00-2:00 PM, at Fairview Baptist Church in Dobson, NC. Service will begin at 2:00 PM in the church with Dr. Billy Nale and Dr. Dan Merritt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Cockerham family.
