Mr. Terry Wayne Marion, 59 of Mount Airy gained his angel wings on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Mr. Marion was born in Surry County on June 8, 1962, to Harlin Greer Marion and the late Peggy Cain Marion. Terry’s love of muscle and classic car restoration led him to achieve his lifelong dream of becoming owner and operator of his own business, Vanishing Point Rods and Restoration, LLC. There he created many long-lasting friendships with fellow “hotrodders”; some who shared his passion since childhood and others who became his customers/vendors. Terry was a member of the Round Peak Masonic Lodge AF&AM #616 for nearly 24 years. Terry was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be eternally missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 41 years, Sheila Faye Gunter Marion; a son and daughter-in-law, Brandon Wayne Marion and wife Misty; his cherished and adored grandsons, Mason Grant Marion and Easton Jax Marion; a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn Johnson and husband Walter; one brother and sister-in-law, Timmy Ray Marion and wife Tammy; one niece April Horton and husband Daniel; three nephews, Todd Dunbar, Chris Lawson and wife Merri; Matt Lawson and wife Brandy; along with several great nieces and nephews. Mr. Marion was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Cain Marion; a brother-in-law, Roger Dunbar; his paternal grandparents, Getties and Gracie Marion; and his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Pearlie Cain. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Vanishing Point Rods and Restoration, 107 Muscle Car Lane, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030 with Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with Masonic rights conducted by the Round Peak Masonic Lodge AF&AM #616. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The family would like to thank the staff at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist, Dr. Christopher Sullivan and Dr. George Yacoub, along with the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
