Thaddeus J. Daber

Mr. Thaddeus J. Daber, 92, of Hilton Head, SC, passed away Sunday morning, June 28, 2009, at Carolina House of Hilton Head. Mr. Daber was born April 20, 1917, in Surry County, son of the late Thaddeus J. and Marjorie Banner Daber. Thaddeus was reared in Mount Airy and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Georgia Tech. He retired as a draftsman from Walter Hook Associates in Charlotte after 35 years of service. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and David Mackintosh of Hilton Head, SC; two grandchildren, Laura Mackintosh Shepard of Birmingham, AL, and David Todd Mackintosh of Statesboro, GA; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Daber was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Stewart Daber; two sisters, Wanda Daber and Adele Coker; and a brother, Kenneth Daber. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. Roger B. Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
