Thelma Arlene Reid Payne

Mrs. Thelma Arlene Reid Payne, age 77, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born October 25, 1944, in Randolph County to the late Walter and Daisy Lee Wood Reid.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Franklin Payne; her son Robert Martin Payne; grandson, Tuff Alexander Johnson; brother, Wayne Reid; and her sister-in-law, Polly Reid.

Mrs. Payne was a member of The Community Church, a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Greg Carpenter, Judy Payne and Pamela and David Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Libby Payne, Terry Payne, and Ronnie and Wanda Payne; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one on the way, six step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Good friend and care taker George Music.  Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at The Community Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at The Community Church with Rev. Ray Hutson, Rev. Charles Stevens and Rev. Phillip Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Payne family.
