Thelma Naomi Connolly

Thelma Naomi Palmer Connolly passed away on July 12, 2022, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care in Mount Airy, NC. She was born October 16, 1929, in Stevensville, Maryland to the late James Paul and Thelma Irma Palmer. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Mount Airy, NC and enjoyed her many years of playing golf at Mount Airy Country Club with her husband Bob. During her years as bookkeeper for Mount Airy Elk’s Club, she enjoyed working with the many members of the club. Naomi spent countless hours volunteering at Jones Elementary School and Northern Regional Hospital. She was a loving mother to Paul Connolly, Alan Connolly (wife Alice) as well as a cherished grandmother to Julie, Rob, Sarah, and Jake and great grandmother to Amelia. Naomi shared 60 years of marriage with Bob who preceded her in death in 2008. She is also survived by a sister, Paula Howard of Annapolis, Maryland. She enjoyed her three years at Ridgecrest Retirement Community and the many friends she made there.  A private graveside service for the family will be conducted at Skyline Memory Garden by the Rev. Danny Miller. A special thank you to Ridgecrest, Twelve Oaks, and Mountain Valley Hospice for the care provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or Mountain Valley Hospice.
