Thelma Rebecca Morton Glass

Ms. Thelma Rebecca Morton Glass, 63, of 131 Cool Springs Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, May 14, 2007, at her home. Ms. Glass was born January 8, 1944, in Surry County, to the late James Wesley and Lottie Rachel Edwards Morton. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Thurmond. She is survived by a daughter, Rachel Glass Smith of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gene and Karen Glass and Timothy Glass and Debbie Haynes, all of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Clara Mae and Gary Goins and Patty Morton, all of Mount Airy; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Jeannie Morton, Bobby and Katherine Slate, and Hurley and Diane Morton, all of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Grady Hiatt of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Ms. Glass was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Glass; and three brothers, Russell Slate, Larry Morton, and Wesley Morton. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 18, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Tony White and the Rev. Jimmy Slate. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of Surry Friends of Seniors for their kindness during Ms. Glass' illness.
