Thelma Jean Gwyn McBride

Mrs. Thelma Jean Gwyn McBride, better known as “Nanny”, age 77, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Carroll County, VA on August 21, 1946, to the late John and Hassie Gwyn.  Mrs. McBride was a loving homemaker who will be dearly missed by all her family.  She is survived by her husband, Claude Joseph McBride; a daughter, Patricia McBride Bowman; a grandchild, Jesse Wayne Bowman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Mary Gwyn, Jay and Pat Gwyn; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. McBride was preceded in death by a sister, Lannie Gwyn; brothers, Roger Gwyn, Clinton Gwyn, and Jess Gwyn; a son-in-law, Jeffery Bowman.  A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Reed officiating.  There will be no formal visitation.  Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the family.
