Thelma Ree Sechrist

Miss Thelma Ree Sechrist, age 76 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Miss Sechrist was born in Patrick County, July 1, 1930 to Alvis Murphy and Maggie Mae Greenwood Sechrist. She was retired from Renfro Corporation with twenty-seven years of service and was a long time member of Salem United Methodist Church. She was a devoted volunteer at Northern Hospital of Surry County which she dearly loved to do. She also loved to fish and play golf. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Slate of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Barbara Sechrist of Kernersville; Haywood and Emma Gray Sechrist of Hampton, VA; and one niece and three nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Sechrist was preceded in death by brothers, Sanford Sechrist, twin brother, Elmer Sechrist; and by a sister-in-law, Pauline Sechrist. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 22, 2006 at Salem United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Peter McGuire and Rev. Tim Burton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home where her body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, would be greatly appreciated.
