Theodore Dalfred "Ted" Dawson

Mr. Theodore Dalfred "Ted" Dawson, 79, of 175 Old Toast Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, October 13, 2008, at his home. Mr. Dawson was born March 14, 1929, in Surry County, to the late Winfred and Nell Tate Dawson. He retired from United Technology and was a member of Crooked Oak Moravian Church. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Laura Alice Easter Dawson of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Viola "Porkey" and Tim Jones and Holly and Wayne Nichols, all of Cana, VA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Nelson and Janie Dawson, Theodore Dalfred Dawson, Jr. and Debbie Dawson, and Steven Ray Dawson, all of Cana, VA; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Angela Kay Jackson of Mount Airy and Darlena Lee Parker and husband, Wayne, of Florida; two stepsons, Timothy Ray Burton and wife, Pam, of Westfield and Ronald Edward Hawks and wife, Dawn, of Hickory; eight stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren; two special stepgrandchildren, Curtis Ray Burton and Katherine Hope Burton; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Alfred Kerry Dawson of Thomasville, Jack Dawson of Cana, VA, Doug and Faye Dawson of High Point, Maynard Dawson of White Plains, and Elmer "Moe" and Sylvia Dawson of Claudville, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by three brothers, Winfred Dawson, Jr., Raymond Dawson, and Richard Dawson. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 17, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards-Upchurch Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to family members and Darwin, Gail, and Melissa for the help and care given. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
