Theodore M. Edwards made the transition to a new life in Christ on April 23rd at The Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born to John Eldridge and Laura Ada Holt Edwards on December 13, 1925. Ted spent 40 award winning years in management with the former Pilot Life Insurance Company. After retirement, he bought the Edwards Family Farm on Rockford Road in Dobson, and began a second career, becoming well-known as a peach and small fruit grower in Dobson, Mt. Airy, and at the Farmers Market in Winston-Salem. He was an original organizer of the Berry Festival in Dobson and was an officer of the Small Fruit Growers Association for many years. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Christina Faye Johnson Edwards, and a granddaughter, Christina Elizabeth Early. He leaves to cherish his memory a son and three daughters: John G. Edwards (Dee) of Clemmons, NC, Mary Edwards Smith (Steve) of Charlotte, NC, Linda Edwards Early (Paul) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Nancy Edwards Chong (Wendell) of Irvine, CA; grandchildren Dave Early, KT Early and Leah Edwards; two sisters, Delsie Wolson of Mt. Airy and Doris Venella of Norfolk, VA and a very special friend, Mary Ruth Hemmings. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30, Friday April 26th at Moody-Davis Funeral home in Dobson. The service will be held Saturday, April 27th at 3:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church on the Rockford Road in Dobson, NC. by Dr. Bobby Lewis with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
