Mrs. Thira Evelyn Glass Norman age 83 of 137 Welcome Baptist Church Road, Mt. Airy, NC widow of Mr. Elmer Lee Norman passed away Tuesday night, February 27, 2007. She was born March 2, 1923 in Bluefield, W. VA to the late Charles and Leliar Johnson Glass. Mrs. Norman was a member of Welcome Baptist Church, was retired from Lynn Hosiery Mills and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Steele, Asheboro, NC, Judy and Bruce Pettus, Pinnacle, NC, two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Pamela Norman, Clinton Township, MI, David and Kim Norman, Mt. Airy, NC, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Neal, Mt. airy, NC, three brothers and five sisters-in-law, Charles and Mona Glass, Asheboro, NC, Jimmy and Peggy Glass, Wilmington, NC, Tom and Pat Glass, Asheboro, NC, Jean Glass, Mt. Airy, NC and Ruth L. Glass, Mt. Airy, NC and a special friend, Baxter Proffitt, Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Darrell Norman, two sisters, Ruth Smith and Pauline Kirkman and two brothers, Bob Glass and Willie Glass. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Rev. Dewayne Sands. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Friday night at Moody Funeral Home where her body will remain until the hour of the service.
