Thomas Edgar Shaw

Mr. Thomas Edgar Shaw Age 88 of 221 Mount View Dr. Mt. Airy, NC passed away Thursday night at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Shaw was born January 13, 1923 in Surry County to the late James E. and Susie Duncan Shaw. He was veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was a self employed Paint Contractor. Surviving are three daughters and son-in-law Wanda and Wayne Cooper and Melissa Jones and R.C. Easter all of Mt. Airy and Teresa Shaw of Asheville, three sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Gaynell Shaw, Sam Shaw and Gary and Cindy Shaw all of Mt. Airy, eight grandchildren Jennifer Collins, Brandon Shaw, Heather Cox, Taylor Shaw, Colby Shaw, Samantha Byerly, Ross Jones and Rush Jones, four great grandchildren and one brother and sister-in-law Donald T. and Mabel Shaw of Winston Salem, special friends, Joan Graham, Pilot Mountain and Pam Graham, Charlotte. In addition to his parents Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Childress Shaw and by two brothers Wiser Lee "Bill" Shaw and William Cleo "Bunk" Shaw. Funeral services will be held Sunday November 13, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Josh Sechrist with burial to follow in the Oakdale Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post # 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post # 9436. The family will receive friends Saturday night 6 to8 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd.
