Mr. Thomas Benjamin Shinault, 86, of Dobson, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born March 23, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Ben and Vader Poindexter Shinault. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Shinault was a retired farmer and a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Angela Shinault of Dobson; a grandson, Joseph Shinault of Dobson; two sisters, Alene Shinault and Gloria Thornes, both of Ararat; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Beulah Shinault and James and Jackie Shinault, all of Mount Airy, Bobby and Alma Shinault of Thurmond, and Wilbur and Janet Shinault and Katherine Shinault, all of Dobson; a brother-in-law, Vernon Turner of Hamptonville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shinault was preceded in death by his wife, June Carol Adams Shinault; two sisters, Frankie Turner and Gladys Hawks; and a brother, Wilson Odell Shinault. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Rock Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
