Thomas Joseph "Tommy" Southern

Mr. Thomas Joseph "Tommy" Southern, age 70 of Westfield, NC passed away at his home, Friday, August 22, 2008. Mr. Southern was born in Stokes County on November 15, 1937 to Nellie Tucker Southern and the late Harvey Samuel Southern. He is survived by his wife, Vickye Kaye Carter Southern; a daughter, Julie Southern; a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Leigh Ann Southern; grandchildren, Madison Kinzer, Joseph Arnett, Stoney Southern; sister, Kathleen Southern, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Faye Southern, Charles and Edna Southern, Harvey and Sara Southern, Alex and Glenda Southern. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Southern. A memorial service will be conducted at Indian Grove Baptist Church Monday, August 25, 2008 at 1:00 PM by Rev. Todd Byrd. The family will receive friends at his home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Rd., Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. airy is assisting the Southern Family.
