Mr. Thomas “T” Lee Dancy, 71, of Mount Airy passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Wilkes County, NC on November 2, 1946 to the late James Thomas Dancy and Faye Church Dancy. Mr. Dancy retired from R J Reynolds Tobacco Company after more than thirty-five years. He also owned and operated Dancy’s Auto Sales Inc. for over twenty-five years. He was a loving father, son, and brother who will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. Mr. Dancy was a member of the Oasis Shrine Organization and Surry Shrine Club. Mr. Dancy was also a member of the Renfro Masonic Lodge #691 A.F. & A.M. earning his Master Mason degree in 1971 and serving as Master of the Renfro Lodge in 1974. Mr. Dancy was a Life Member and Past Exalted Ruler (1979-1980) in the Mount Airy Elks Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Gaynell Davis Dancy. He is survived by a son, Thomas Lee Dancy Jr. and Angela Stroup, her children, Eli, Zeb and Walker; a daughter, Alisha Dancy-Brown and her husband Andrew; his grandchildren Andrew Gray “Beau “Brown and Isabella Alexis “Bella” Brown, all of Mount Airy; his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Mack Mast of Lexington; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Donald Gray Davis, Sr. and Janice Davis of Dobson, and Larry Ray and Theresa Davis of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law and her husband Faye and Fred O’Neal of Dobson; two nieces and nephews, Paige Ellis Zawatsky and husband Alan, Amy Thorne and husband Cory, Chris O’Neal and Donald Davis. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jay Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with Masonic Rites by Renfro Lodge #691 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until time for the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special thanks to the loving and caring staff of Mountain Valley Hospice.
