Thurman Wesley Hayes

Mr. Thurman Wesley Hayes, age 88, of Dobson, NC passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mt. Airy.   He was born in Surry County on May 18, 1930, to the late Ted William and Martha Cave Hayes.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Adams Hayes; two brothers, Louie Hayes and Johnny Hayes.  He was retired from the North Carolina DOT, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  Surviving are his daughter, Myra Hayes Caudle of Dobson; two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sharon Hayes of Mt. Airy, Mickey Hayes of Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren, Chris and Jessica Hayes, Candra Chriscoe, Hannah and Brett Stanley, Haley and Elliot Smith, Hunter Hayes, Matthew and Whitney Hayes, Courtney Hayes, Garrett Caudle; ten great-grandchildren, Sadie Hayes, Camden Hayes, Hayden Chriscoe, Harper Chriscoe, Jack Stanley, Jude Stanley, Eleanor Smith, Christian Hayes, Ashton Hayes, Parker Hayes; sisters, Gail Holland of Kernersville, Maureen Gates of Dobson; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronald and Carol Hayes of Mississippi, Teddy Ray Hayes of Kernersville.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2018, in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial in the Skyline Memory Gardens, with full military graveside rites by the Veteran of Foreign War Memorial Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.  The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from 1:00 PM until the time of his service.  The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
