Thurman Tickle Jr.

Mr. Hampton Thurman Tickle Jr, age 79, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born on November 18, 1944 in Surry County to the late Hampton Thurman Tickle Sr. and Vera Beatrice Shelton Tickle. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Melissa Tickle (Gary Cooke, Sr.), Rhonda Puckett (Jeff “Frog”), and Miranda Tickle (Luis Suarez); sons, Marc Tickle (Chris), and James Tickle (Lisa); grandchildren, Tripp Tennyson, Hayley Tickle, and Kaitlyn Stamper (Nick); sisters, Marie Kiebler and Dianne Angel; sister-in-law, Donna Tickle; special fur baby, TK; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tickle was preceded in death by an Infant sister, Gloria Tickle, and sister Patricia Smith; brother, Aubrey Ray Tickle; brothers-in-law, Omar Smith and James Kiebler; his beloved side kick and nephew, Jonathan Angel; and special friend, Renee Kistler. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Friends Church with service conducted by Rev. Ernest Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made in memory of Mr. Tickle to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Dr. Suite 101, Mt Airy, NC 27030.
