Timothy Wayne Flippen

Mr. Timothy Wayne “Tim” Flippen, 61, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, December 3, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mr. Flippen was born October 16, 1960, in Surry County, the only child born to the late Elder George Samuel and Katherine Thornburg Flippen. Tim graduated from North Surry High School in 1978, and he later earned an associate degree from Surry Community College. He worked in the maintenance department at Wake Forest University for many years before joining the staff at White Plains Elementary School as a custodian, alongside his wife, Kathy. Tim was a devoted Christian man and a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy Fore Flippen of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diana and Chad Hiatt of Mount Airy and Ashley Flippen of the home; two grandchildren, Nathan Hiatt of Mount Airy and Malachi Flippen of the home; and many friends. A service of worship and celebration of Tim’s life will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Joey Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the church. His body will also lie-in-state on Friday from noon until 5:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
