Timothy Franklin McHone passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 7, 1950, in Surry County. Timothy was the ultimate girl dad and never met a stranger. His friendly and warm personality made him a treasured member of the Mount Airy community.
Timothy retired from the City of Mount Airy as a supervisor at the water treatment plant. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Timothy had a passion for telling jokes and laughing. His infectious laughter could brighten anyone's day. He had a keen interest in computers, science fiction, and learning.
Timothy proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. His military service exemplified his patriotism and love for his country. He was also a member of the Granite Masonic Lodge #322.
Timothy is survived by his loving family and friends who will deeply miss him. He is survived by his daughters, Kasey McHone, Melanie Ferris, and Sandee Velazquez. He cherished his role as a father and leaves behind beautiful memories for his daughters to hold close to their hearts.
Additionally, Timothy's granddaughter, Christina Bejarano, and great-grandson Roman Gabriel Bejarano brought immense joy into his life.
Timothy is also survived by his brother-in-law H.L. Hawks, and nieces Sarah (Cheyenne) Brady, Taylor (Gary) Thompson, along with Raelynn Thompson and Novah Thompson, and the extended McHone & Morris families. Their fond memories of Timothy will forever keep his spirit alive.
Timothy's beloved dog, Mabel, was a faithful companion and brought him comfort and love.
Timothy was preceded in death by his father, Hunter Frank McHone, mother Elisabeth Capanola Collins McHone, sister Sheila Hawks, and uncle and aunt Grady and Betty McHone. He was also preceded in death by his uncle Otis Collins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 5, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 162 Temple Lane, Mt Airy, NC. The service will begin at 11:00 AM with Bishop Brian Johnson officiating, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mayberry 4 Paws, 210 Country Club Road, Mount Airy, NC.
