Timothy Michael Nichols

Mr. Timothy Michael “Tim” Nichols, 63, of Winston-Salem, passed away early Sunday morning, December 1, 2024. Mr. Nichols was born the second son to Roger Lewis and Shelby Badgett Nichols on February 20, 1961, in Surry County. He was reared on a tobacco farm and learned early about hard work, church, good food, and family. After high school, Tim attended Appalachian State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in housing and interiors. In 1985, Tim moved to Winston-Salem, where he worked as a residential interior designer throughout his career. During the late 90s, Tim moved into a two-story building on Trade Street in downtown Winston-Salem. The lower level was his studio/art gallery, and the second story was his home. He loved working with and encouraging artists, especially ones who had never shown their artwork to the public. Tim loved to spend time with close friends and family. He also loved cooking, gardening, browsing antique shops, good music, and good art. He was a member of Mount Airy Friends Meeting, where he sang in the choir. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, James Andrew “Jimmy” and Jill Hooker Nichols and Samuel Jacob “Sam” and Tina Stone Nichols; three nephews; four nieces; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his older brother, Gary Lewis Nichols. A service of worship and celebration of Tim’s life will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Mount Airy Friends Meeting. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Airy Friends Meeting, 109 West Wilson Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
