Mr. Timothy “Tim” Madison George, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, February 19, 2021, with his family by his side at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Tim was born in Surry County on December 28, 1950, the son of the late Coy Reid George and Ruth Jane Childress George. Tim was a very kind and generous man always willing to lend a helping a hand. He had recently retired from his company, Tim George Construction. “Papa George” was very involved in the Mount Airy Rescue Squad for over 26 years with most of his tenure serving as their Captain. Papa George always had a great time at the squad building whether it was playing Santa for all the children or just giving the members a hard time but loving them just like they were his own children. The Mount Airy Rescue Squad was Tim’s home and Heavy Rescue 855 was his baby. He was also a former member of the Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department and a former EMT-Intermediate with the Surry County Emergency Medical Services. Another one of Tim’s loves was his pepperoni, sausage, and hamburger pizza from Pizza Hut and his Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Wendi George Bennett and husband Les, and Kandis Lynn George; grandchildren, Khloe Bennett, Brady Bennett, Isabelle Bennett, and Tucker Bennett; sisters and a brother-in-law, Sue Anne George, and Amy and Odell Quesinberry; many nieces and nephews; and his Mount Airy Rescue Squad family. Funeral services for Papa George will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 PM with Rev. Dennis Barnette officiating. Tim will lie-in-state at Moody Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A committal service will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Dennis Barnette officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Airy Rescue Squad, PO Box 1053, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Mount Airy Rescue Squad for all the love they have shown to Papa Tim’s family during this time. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Forsyth Medical Center Surgical ICU for all the special care given to Tim. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the George family.
