On Tuesday March 4, 2008, God sent His best angel for our momma. Mrs. Tiny Elizabeth Bean Holyfield, 71, widow of Mr. Ruben Jasper Holyfield, of Dobson departed this life to enter into the realms of Heaven at the home of her daughter while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on August 5, 1936 to the late Burley Wilson and Julie Katherine Roberts Bean. Mrs. Holyfield was a homemaker and a devoted member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and sons-in-law, Reba and Rev. Tony White and Deborah and Tommy Pendergrass; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Joann Holyfield all of Dobson; five special grandchildren, Misty Cline, R.J. Holyfield, Paige Pendergrass, Keesha Golz and Tonya Tucker; six great-grandchildren, Shawn Golz, Levi Holyfield, Kevin Risher, Brittany Risher, Alex Bautista and Haley Bautista; a loving sister, Lucy Rogers of Dobson; nieces Donna Marsh, Cynthia Martin and Nancy Wood; devoted great-nieces and nephews, Meachum Marsh, Kolina Marsh, Adriana Martinez and "Bambam" Martinez whom they loved as a mother . In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Holyfield was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Tony White, Rev. Gene Snow and Rev. Marty Reece officiating. Burial will follow in the Dobson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson where her body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200 Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassionate love and care given to Mrs. Holyfield during her illness.
