Tommy Ray Slate

Mr. Tommy Ray Slate, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born on August 20, 1957 in Surry County to Robert “Bob” Slate and the late Lucille Flippen Oakley and Blain Oakley. He was a loving husband, father and Papa who will surely be missed by all who knew him. He impacted many youths during his years as a coach. He was a loving man of God, all his family especially his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Debbie Slate; daughter, Kristy Pedrotty (Brian); son, Josh Slate (Deidra); grandchildren, Lynzee Slate “Sugar Plum”, Leelan Slate “Cletus”, Hudson Pedrotty “Mater”, Presli Pedrotty “Sweet Pea”; brothers, Ricky Jones (Sharon), Teddy Slate, Bobby Slate (Marilyn); Step Mother, Lucy Slate. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM Laurel Springs Baptist Church with service conducted by Rev. Lamont Barber and Rev. Brian Pack. Burial will follow in the church cemetery . The family will receive friends on Sunday morning from 9:30 AM until the time for the service at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
