Tressie Iowa Towe Cook

Mrs. Tressie Iowa Towe Cook, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Cook was born January 21, 1923, in Carroll County, VA, to James Harrison and Maggie Gray Towe. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Rufus Hosea Cook of the home; a daughter, Veda Payne of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Michael Payne and his wife, Michelle, of Cana, VA, and Rhonda McHone and her husband, Scott, of Mount Airy; and great-grandchildren, Sommer McHone, Christian McHone, Amanda Payne Wall, Brittany Willard, and Samantha Payne. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by a sister, Hessie Stanley; a half-sister, Alene Dowell; brothers, Kermit Towe and Hurlie Towe; and a half-brother, Clyde Towe. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 29, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd and the Rev. David "Buster" Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
