Treva Lyons Barber, 93, of Dobson, took her heavenly flight to her eternal home on Sunday October 11, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 17, 1916, in Wilkes County to Joe and Alice Lyons. She Worked on the farm and in the garden and was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and picking black berries. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She loved her children and was there when they needed her. Even after she became ill, she still wanted to take care of them. They will cherish her always. She loved the Lord and was a member of Charity United Methodist Church in Wilkes County. Before she became ill, she was attending Redeeming Grace Baptist Church in Siloam. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Grover Barber; one son, Ardis Barber; one daughter, Kathleen Barber; three sisters, Lilly Lyons Smith of Wilkes county; Fannie Lyons Cockerham of East Bend; Wessie Lyons Curry of Traphill. Surviving are one son, Jack (Becky) Barber of Dobson; three daughters Amygeane Barber (James) Macemore of Winston-Salem; Frankie Barber (Ervin) Odum of Dobson; Wanda Barber Lineberry of Dobson; three sisters Vergie Lyons Swaim of Jonesville; Mary Lyons Luffman of High Point; Estelle Lyons (Homer) Collins of Wilkes County; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Betty Patton and Evelyn Dinkins. Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday October 15, 2009 at Redeeming Grace Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Island Ford Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Junior Wall conducting the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 until 9 PM. Her body will remain at Moody-Davis until carried to the church to lie in state 30 min before the services. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the wonderful care given to their mother during her illness by: the late Jane Pruitt; Kathy Swaim; of Senior Services, and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
