Troy Lee Hodges, Sr.

Mr. Troy Lee Hodges, Sr. age 87, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully Friday morning, August 16, 2024, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hodges was born May 12, 1937, to the late John Lee Hodges and Lena Felts Hodges in Surry County. Mr. Hodges retired after 39 years as a warehouse supervisor for H&W Trucking. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Haynes Hodges of the home; daughters and sons-in-laws, Debbie Taylor, Doris Fowler and Dale, Donna Castillo and Anastacio; son, Troy Lee Hodges, Jr.; grandchildren and their spouses, Casey Poole, Ashley Walker and Taylor, MacKenzie Taylor, Georgia Taylor, Steven Fowler and Brittany, Nicole Stanley, Brandon Hodges, Amanda Hodges, Courtney Jones; 14 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye Hodges, Bonnie Quesinberry, Ruth Goins, Pete Haynes and Gloria; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Hodges, Arlis Hodges, Paul Hodges, Hardin Hodges. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 18, 2024, 3:30 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Schuyler, Rev. Rusty Reed officiating. A burial will follow Sunday, August 18, 2024, at The People’s Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:30 Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church 123 Mt. Carmel Church Rd., Mount Airy, NC. 27030. “With a heavy heart our family would like to express a huge thank you for all the love and prayers we have received over the last few days.” He was our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather and such a remarkable man.
