Ty Hasan Montgomery

Ty Hasan Montgomery, 19, of Mount Airy, passed away early Friday morning, January 14, 2022. Ty was born November 5, 2002, in Forsyth County, one of three children born to Eric Dean Montgomery and Karen Wagoner Montgomery. Ty graduated from North Surry High School in 2021. He was a kind, sweet, respectful, and gentle young man. He had a beautiful smile and was a simply a good person. While at North Surry, he was an accomplished athlete in football and baseball. His pride in being a Greyhound was evident each day. Ty was employed at Hawks Concrete. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Coy Montgomery of the home; a sister, Sadie Montgomery of the home; his maternal grandmother, Verna Lee Wagoner of Mount Airy; his paternal grandmother, Judith Montgomery of Mount Airy; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Ray Wagoner; and his paternal grandfather, Edward Dean Montgomery. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM at North Surry High School. No formal visitation will be held. A private service and burial will take place for his immediate family. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of Ty’s coaches, teammates, and opponents for being an important and vital part of his life and making him into the young man he was.
