Mr. Ulysses Ray Dollyhigh, 66, of 920 Smith Road, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Dollyhigh was born October 19, 1941, in Surry County, to the late Charles Raymond and Sarah Myrtle Atkins Dollyhigh. He was a salesman at Motor Supply Company for more than 44 years and a member of Turkey Ford Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruby Arlene Johnson Dollyhigh of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tim and Dena Dollyhigh and James Mark Dollyhigh, all of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Travis Ray Dollyhigh, Cody Dollyhigh, Amber Dollyhigh, and Brittany Stanley, all of Mount Airy; a special great-grandson, Brayden Dollyhigh of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Judy and Tommy Draughn of Mount Airy and Geneva Jester of East Bend; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Bobby and Ruth Dollyhigh, Grady and Ellen Dollyhigh, and Bessie Dollyhigh, all of Mount Airy, and Johnny and Lenda Dollyhigh of Bahama Islands; several nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Opal Willey Johnson of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dollyhigh was preceded in death by two brothers, James Samuel Dollyhigh and Billy Gray Dollyhigh; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Jester. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Turkey Ford Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Ricky Atkins, the Rev. Johnny Dollyhigh, the Rev. Junior Corn, the Rev. Joe Lambert, and the Rev. Nancy Warner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at Turkey Ford Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or Turkey Ford Baptist Church, c/o Lois Spicer, 1056 Turkey Ford Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Libby Marion and Darwin Brightbill, for the love, care, and kindness shown to Ulysses and his family during his illness.
