Mrs. Una Mae Lankford Holyfield, age 74, of Dobson, passed out of this world to be with her eternal Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Hugh Chatham Medical Center. She had battled cancer in 2015 and then again since April 2020. She was born April 1, 1946 in Wilkes County to the late Joe and Mamie Lankford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Lankford, Jimmy Lankford, Roy Lankford, and Troy Lankford; her sisters, Velma Darnell and Louise House; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Holyfield. Mrs. Holyfield is survived by her loving husband of 59 years as of March 23 Jack Holyfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Tina Holyfield of Woodlawn, Va. and Marty and Christie Holyfield of Dobson; Tammy and Tim Mabe, mother and stepfather of her grandchildren, Hannah Price and her husband Todd, Nathan Holyfield and special friend Ashlee Boyd; sisters, Margie Wall, Jean Brown and Betty Tilly; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Holyfield was a member of Copeland Baptist Church for more than 25 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the finance committee and taught Vacation Bible School. She worked at Perry Manufacturing until 1985 and then assisted Jack in the upholstery business for 36 years. She loved the outdoors, raising chickens, needle work, quilting, sewing, baking, and canning. Visitation will be Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 1-3:00 pm at Copeland Baptist Church. Services will begin at 3:00 pm in the church with Reverend Darryl Vestal and Reverend Joey Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Copeland Baptist Church, 169 Stony Knoll Road, Dobson NC 27017. In accordance with current Covid-19 guidelines, everyone attending is asked to please wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing procedures.
