Mr. Uriah Faw Reeves, 80, of 449 Pacific Circle, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Reeves was born August 23, 1926, in Surry County, to the late Austin and Ruie Faw Reeves. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. Uriah was a retired truck driver from Dobson Trucking Inc. and was a member of East Side Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Ardner Reeves of Mount Airy; eight sons and three daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Vickie Reeves, Van and Edith Reeves, David and Kim Reeves, Michael Reeves, Phillip Reeves, Dennis Robertson, and Ray Robertson, all of Mount Airy, and Gary Reeves of Wilmington; three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Gumpert and Brenda Robertson, both of Mount Airy, and Barbara and Jerry Weddle of Galax, VA; twenty grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and five brothers, Marvin Reeves of Bassett, VA, Don Reeves of Old Henry, VA, Austin Reeves, Jr. of Lowgap, Raymond Reeves of Mount Airy, and Elbert Reeves of FL. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by a sister; and three brothers, Sidney Reeves, Otto Reeves, and Jack Reeves. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 23, 2006, at 9:00 AM at Salisbury National Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Colonel Donald G. Belle and military rites will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Imogene Ardner Reeves, 524 East Haymore Street, Mount Airy.
