Valeria Jones Bryant

Mrs. Valeria Jones Bryant, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Bryant was born June 16, 1916, in Surry County, to the late James Walter and Lucy Ella Patterson Jones. She retired from Quality Mills and was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and mother-in-law and enjoyed life. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Dale Holden of the home; and two sisters, Mae Joyce of Mount Airy and Estelle Gates of Wytheville, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey T. Bryant; four sisters, Dora James, Gertha Simmons, Bertha Gravley, and Bessie Gravley; and two brothers, Robert Wilson "Bill" Jones and Vestal Jones. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Robert McCrary, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
