Vera Elizabeth Ayers

Mrs. Vera Elizabeth Murphy Ayers, age 96 of Powhatan, Virginia went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Green W. Ayers, and her second husband, Fred H. Kilmer.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jesse R. and Lucy Philpott Murphy; three sisters, Katherine Washburn, Mattie Carter, and Inez Shockley; and one brother, Richard Murphy.

Surviving to celebrate her life are her devoted daughter, Jo Ann Ayers Greene, and beloved son-in-law, Parker “Moe” Greene; one step-granddaughter, Paige Greene; one brother, Ronald Murphy, and wife, Margie of Spencer, Virginia and a host of very special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Ed Hartman officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour before the services at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
