Vera Virginia Collins Carpenter

Mrs. Vera Virginia Collins Carpenter, age 91 of Mt. Airy, widow of Mr. James Roland Carpenter, passed away Wednesday, March 07, 2007 at Surry Community Nursing Center. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Patrick County, May 16, 1915 to Luther Albert and John Emma Belton Collins. She was a member of Mt. Airy Friends Church. Surviving are a son-in-law, Donald Hiatt of Cana, VA; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Carpenter of Mt. Airy; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by daughters, Joan Elizabeth Hiatt and Sandra Gail Martin and by a son, James Roland Carpenter, Jr. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Moody Funeral Home is serving the Carpenter family.
