Vera Dean Stewart Cockerham

Mrs. Vera Dean Stewart Cockerham, age 93, of Elkin, NC passed away on Tuesday October 11, 2022,  at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She Was born in Surry County on December 12, 1928, to the late Edgar Stewart and the late Lettie Graham Stewart.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cockerham; sisters, Mary Cockerham, Katie Lee Stewart, Connie Mankins, Doris Stewart, and Sarah Lyons; brothers, Garnett Stewart, Robert Stewart, Willie Stewart, Edward Stewart, Clarence Stewart; grandsons Tony and Anthony Cockerham.  Mrs. Cockerham was of the primitive Baptist faith.  Surviving are her two daughters and son-in-law, Roberta Williams, Dorothy (Oscar) Antone; three sons and daughter-in-law, William Cockerham, Thomas “Buck” Cockerham, Calvin (Gwen) Cockerham; grandchildren, Patricia Williams, Melissa Williams, Stephanie (Todd) Williams, Kevin (Beth) Cockerham, LaToja (TJ) Smith, MaraNatha Long, Clarence (Camilla) Edwards, Jospeh (Jessica) Edwards, Tammie Dobson; 20 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine (James) Kennedy; a host of nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday October 14, 2022, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Little Richmond Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pastor Dennis “Bud” Cameron will officiate the service.  The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Friday one hour prior to the service.
