Vera Lee Bowman Pack

Mrs. Vera Lee Bowman Pack, 88, of Claudville, VA, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Pack was born April 2, 1921, in Patrick County, VA, to Charlie Moir and Susie Ada Gammons Bowman. She helped her husband farm, loved making quilts, and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a sister and a brother-in-law, Frances and Franklin Dollyhite of Mount Airy; two special nieces, Kathleen Goins and husband, Glenn, and Faye Dollyhite, all of Mount Airy; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pack was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Shearwood "Pete" Pack; three sisters, Annie Stevens, Lena Goins, and Betty Adams; and two brothers, David Bowman and Harvey Bowman. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Pardue and the Rev. Trent Lyons. Burial will follow in the Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Kathleen and Glenn Goins, 714 McBride Road, Mount Airy.
