Mrs. Vera White Wilmoth, 83, devoted wife of Mr. Earl Wilmoth, Sr. of Dobson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday December 1, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital while surrounded by her dear family. She was born in Surry County on June 21, 1925 to the late Jackson Lloyd and Minnie Susan Key White. Mrs. Wilmoth was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Napping Department after many years of service. She was a dedicated member of Fairview Baptist Church and loved spending time in her flower gardens. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Earl Wilmoth, Sr. of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Chuck Fishel of Mount Airy; a son Earl Wilmoth, Jr. and fiance, Vickie Mae Hicks of Dobson; two very special granddaughters, Mindy Ireland of State Road and Mallory Ireland of Winston-Salem; a great-grandson whom she adored, Trevor Lee Dutton and a sister, Vallie White of Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilmoth was preceded in death by a sister, Victoria Nixon and four brothers, Farris White, Fox White, Fred White and Rufus White. Her funeral service will held at 2:00 PM Wednesday December 3, 2008 at Fairview Baptist Church by Rev. Andy Atkins and Rev. Dan Merritt with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Shuck and the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for the compassion shown to Mrs. Wilmoth and her family during her stay there.
