Vergie Ilene McAbee Harshberger

Mrs. Vergie Ilene McAbee Harshberger, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Harshberger was born August 23, 1918, in Greene County, TN, to John and Ida Florence McAbee. Surviving are daughters, Ruth Whitaker of Stuart, VA, and Marjorie Howell of Johnson City, TN; sons, Paul Harshberger of the home, Clifford Hashberger of Mount Airy, and Charles Harshberger of Greeneville, TN; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harshberger was preceded in death by her husband, Enoch Edward Harshberger; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dale Hawks officiating. Burial will take place at Brown Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Mosheim, TN, on Monday, April 14, 2008, at 11:00 AM with graveside services conducted by the Rev. Richard Long. The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 until the time of the service.
