Vergie Ethel Hutchens Stanley

Mrs. Vergie Ethel Hutchens Stanley, age 83, passed away on Monday morning February 5, 2007 at Central Continuing Care Nursing Center in Mt. Airy. She was born in Surry County on January 8, 1924 to the late Willie Gray Hutchens and the late Rosabell Shaffner Hutchens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dosie E. Stanley. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law Patricia Atkins of Waynesburg, Va, Glenda Hubbard of East Bend, Laura and Wayne Beck of Walkertown, LaRue and Ray Bowling of Ararat, NC, Phyllis Stanley of Mt. Airy, Rita and Warren Atkins of Mt. Airy, Mary Wood of Ararat, NC, Martha and Johnny Lawson of King; step daughters Mary Taylor and Jean Adkins both of Fayetteville; twenty three grandchildren, fifty seven great-grandchildren; sisters Ginny Fox of Yadkinville, and Laura Frady of Hamptonville; brother Oscar Hutchens of Yadkinville; sister-in-law Pansy Hutchens of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson with burial to follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ted Crotts and Rev. Tim Crotts will officat the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 PM and at other times the home of her daughter Phyllis Stanley 225 Mountain View Rd. Mt. Airy, NC.
