Verna Roena Crotts

Mrs. Verna Roena Hall Crotts, age 91, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 21, 2018. She was born July 16, 1926, to the late Vance and Nancy Bell Tate Hall.  For much of her career, she worked in furniture factories and textiles before returning to school in her late 50’s to obtain her cosmetology degree. She spent the next 25 years working from the beauty shop at her home. After retiring from cosmetology, she spent 15 years making quilts and other crafts while working at a local craft shop.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Marlie and Janice Crotts; grandchildren- Melanie and Kevin Webb and Jamie and Cheryl Crotts; great-grandchildren – Joseph Webb, and Cassandra and Mason Crotts; Siblings Vera Lytton, Frances Edwards, A.D. Hall, Annis Hall, and Debbie Combs.

She was preceded in death by Rector Crotts, her husband of 30 years; her son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Mazie Crotts; grandchildren Rita, Jerry, and Alice Crotts, and Jeremy Crotts; two brothers, Grover Hall and James Hall, and one sister, Cora “Kitty” Edwards.

Family will receive friends from 10 am until the service will begin at 11 am on Saturday, June 23, at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church in Cana, with services conducted by Rev. Ted Crotts and Rev. Brian Frazier. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joy Ranch Children’s Home, 813 Joy Ranch Road, Woodlawn, VA 24381.
