Vernia Faye Bond Goodson

Mrs. Vernia Faye Bond Goodson, 82, of 169 Magnolia Street, Lowgap, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Galax, VA. Mrs. Goodson was born September 23, 1926, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Roscoe and Delia Worrell Bond. She retired from Mayville Company. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Garnet Jones of Cana, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roy and Lula Ogle of Galax, VA, and Donnie Ogle of Hillsville, VA; four grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and Todd Vogler of Westfield, Vickie and Hoyt Davidson of Austinville, VA, Steve Ogle of Hillsville, VA, and Misty Ogle of Galax, VA; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Mary Ellen Quesinberry and Judy Sifford, both of Hillsville, VA, and Mildred Rakes of Wytheville, VA; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Hilda Bond and Cecil Nancy Bond, all of Hillsville, VA, and James Otis and Argie Bond of Sylmar, CA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goodson was preceded in death by her husband, Forney Ellis Goodson; her children's father, Gordon Ogle; and two brothers, Jack Bond and Cleon Bond. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mike Casstevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
