Vernon E. Belcher

Mr. Vernon Eugene Belcher, age 86, of Woolwine, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.  He was born on Nov. 24, 1931 to the late Wesley Belcher and Lelia Wood Belcher.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eulah Mae Conner Belcher.

Mr. Belcher served in the U.S. Army and attended Life Tabernacle Church.  He loved bluegrass gospel music, playing the banjo, and tending to his apple orchard.

            Surviving are a son, Roy Belcher of Stuart; two brothers, Kenneth Belcher of Floyd, Odell Belcher of Meadows of Dan; a brother-in-law, Landis Conner and wife, Bertha of Woolwine; and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Harold Fitzgerald officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Smith River Rescue Squad, PO Box 122, Woolwine, VA 24185.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
