Vestal Vernon Boyd

Mr. Vestell Vernon Boyd, age 77 of Ararat, VA, husband of Margaret Bowman Boyd, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006 at his home. Mr. Boyd was born in Patrick County, December 22, 1928 to Elmer E. and Elizabeth Marshall Boyd. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was retired from the United States Air Force. Surviving are his devoted wife, Margaret Bowman Boyd of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Verna B. and Brian Gordon of Clermont, FL; a son, Daryl Edward Boyd of Ocoee, FL; a granddaughter, Jamie Renee Gordon of Clermont, FL; sisters, Lorene West and Mabel Rose both of Mt. Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Maynard and Emily Boyd of Monroe, GA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Eugene Boyd. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2006 by Chaplain Charles Smythers at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
