Mrs. Vickie Lynn Moser Dockery, of 408 South Main Street, Dobson, passed peacefully through the Heavenly Gates on Thursday, December 15th, 2016, following a brief illness with her beloved husband, Charles by her side. Vickie was born on December 4, 1953, to Leonard Ray and Ruby Marion Moser and grew up in the Level Cross community. A graduate of Surry Central High School, Surry Community College, and Winston-Salem State University, Vickie became a medical laboratory technologist shortly before she and Charles were married in August, 1973. She became mother to twins Jonathan Hastings and William Charles Dockery in late November, 1980. Vickie’s interests and hobbies were centered around her family, their home and her boys: she enjoyed painting, remodeling and up-fitting the old Dr. Folger house in Dobson that she and Charles purchased many years ago, although she never hesitated to pitch in when others needed her help. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and walking with Charles and the family dog, Buddy (who rescued himself from uptown to come and live with them). She and Charles are members of Gospel View Baptist Church in Dobson. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Charles A. Dockery, of the home; one son, William Charles Dockery; her brother and sister-in-law, Jeffery R. and Connie Moser; and her niece and nephew, Adam and Haley, of Hillsborough, NC; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth “Janie” Dockery Helton and Amy R. Dockery of Elkin; nieces, Melissa D. Taylor of Dobson and Melanie Taylor Sloop of Elkin, and Melanie’s children, Dockery and Bronwyn Sloop of Elkin. Vickie was predeceased by her parents, Ray & Ruby Moser; her beloved son, Jonathan Hastings Dockery; Charles’ parents, Gilmer and Juanita Dockery; and the family’s four-legged companion, Buddy. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Saturday evening at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Gospel View Baptist Church, 633 W. Atkins Street, in Dobson, with The Rev. Dr. Jerry Sizemore and Brother Chad Hemmings officiating. Graveside services will follow at The Dockery Family Cemetery off Twin Oaks Road, Elkin, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel View Baptist Church; Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care; or The Dockery Family Cemetery Fund, c/o Amy R. Dockery, 200 Dobbins Mill Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
